Written communication skills are vital in the work force, and the VWC allows me an opportunity to polish and improve my skills, while completing my classroom assignments. Dr. Rabin has been working with me for the past three semesters, and she has earned my trust through my learning process. I would highly encourage all the students to utilize this program. Ms. Liz was very helpful even if we weren’t able to access the virtual writing center due to technical issue. She responded promptly through email and explained the areas that needs to be corrected in my resume.

I did the online session before I turned my paper in. The session gave me a complete different view of my paper and helped with organization and clarifying my ideas.

Being as I had taken a long break from school I pretty much had to learn to be a student all over again. This was really helpful in going over some basic skills to proofread and tackle future assignments more confidently.

This did not answer any of my immediate questions and I almost felt more confused at the end than I did at the beginning. After doing some more research on my own the answers made sense.

After several attempts using the writing center in the Library, I found that the 30 minute sessions offered did not allow enough time to make it through my 1500 word paper. The sessions in the library were helpful, but 30 minutes was just not enough time. So, I scheduled an appointment at the Virtual Writing Center with Dr. Wayne Kobylinski. I emailed him my paper prior to our online scheduled meeting, and upon signing into the Blackboard Collaborative platform he had my paper up and ready to go. I was surprised how quickly Dr. Kobylinski could read through my paper while pointing issues with grammer, punctuation, flow and cohesion. He would let me know if my thesis was strong enough and point out areas where I veered off topic. He was also amazing with the Works Cited and in text citation information. I recommend using the Virtual Writing Center. Doing the session online is just as good as in person, sound and video is available, you can do it from home, and the session is 60 minutes which is certainly better for those with longer papers. I highly recommend scheduling a session with Dr. Kobylinski if he is available.

Mr. Ward was incredibly helpful and put me at ease. He clarified any questions I had. I was reluctant to use this service, but was required by my professor. I will use the writing center again in the future. I would recommend this service to anyone who has a paper to write or may need help with a speech. Keep in mind appointments fill up fast so book early.

These sessions have been invaluable. As someone who perceives themself as a strong writer, I never would have thought I would need tutoring. What I'm finding is that I actually really appreciate the tutoring, and I suggest it to anyone who takes an online course, especially if it is a course in English, Literature or Communications. Professor Rabin is awesome and I feel like I have someone in my corner who is really rooting for me to succeed. She finds ways to explain things that are critical but supportive, rather than making me feel bad about myself or my writing. She is absolutely awesome, and has a great attitude. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I have received tremendous guidance for my paper from Dr. Rabin and Dr. Palumbo. I have had three session so far and both have helped greatly in my focus, grammar, and just about every aspect of writing for this paper. They are easy to understand and if all you have to do is ask! I recommend using the virtual writing center multiple times!

I used the writing tutor service today, and I was throughly impressed. Dr. Rabin started the session by asking what I needed help with (for example: grammar, active voice, concise, clarity, etc). Dr. Rabin pointed out the errors, explained why it was an error, and helped correct the sentence. Overall, the service was easy to use and extremely helpful. I plan to use the service again for future papers.

I have used the Virtual Writing Center twice and both times I have scheduled with Professor Simon Ward. The content I had reviewed was a resume and cover letter for two different courses. He took the time to really go over my content and offered recommendations that did make my material better. He was very friendly and accommodating. I would definitely schedule with him again.

It was fantastic and easy to use on the phone. However, the website on the computer wouldn't work. I spent 20 minutes trying to figure it out.

It was very helpful, but I wish that they were able to record the session so that I could go back to it to make sure I was able to make all the corrections that were suggested. I might have to come in for a face-to-face session to make sure that I have everything correct.

The only issue that I had during this entire process was actually getting onto blackboard collaboration, it took much longer than 30 seconds (more like 5+ minuets) all-in-all this isn’t a big issue, but I suggest you update the website to inform students of this so they don’t get nervous like I did and think that the black board collaboration isn’t working. The blackboard collaboration itself was very easy to navigate! I love the fact that you can share what you are doing on the screen with the tutor! It helps make a tutoring session quick an efficient! Janice Lathrop was extremely knowledgeable and made my first time using Blacknoard collaboration easy. This whole experience aided me a lot in my research for my paper and i will definitely be using/recommending it again. Thanks Janice!!

I had a great experience with online tutoring with one of the instructors in virtual writing center, named Rosemery Harty. I received a great help and had feedback on my grammar, and structure of unified paragraph. I would recommend it to other students as well!

I have been told that I have run-on sentences, but after discussing my paper logically, it turns out that nowadays I suffer from just the opposite and fragmented sentences. I appreciated that my tutor walked me through my essay and pointed out my faults and demonstrated options for re-wording that made sense. I feel that she understood exactly what I was trying to get across in my essay. I will utilize the VWC of Anne Arundel throughout my pursuit towards my degree.
